Boy Scout Troop 270

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy

Guiding Principles

The mission of Troop 270 is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

  • Scout Oath:  On my honor I will do my best
    To do my duty to God and my country
    and to obey the Scout Law;
    To help other people at all times;
    To keep myself physically strong,
    mentally awake, and morally straight.
  • Scout Law: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind,
    obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

The Scouts and adult leaders of Troop 270 recognize their obligation to God and to Jesus Christ. The troop acknowledges and supports the Christian philosophy expressed in the curriculum at Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. The troop’s programs and activities will include religious components that reflect this commitment.

The troop’s program, focusing on character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness, will utilize the classic elements of Scouting: established ideals, a common uniform, weekly boy-run meetings (with adult oversight), a vigorous outdoors program, an advancement program culminating with the Eagle award, service projects to benefit PRCA and the surrounding community, and similar elements.

Adult leadership is restricted to qualified adults who subscribe to the BSA’s Declaration of Religious Principle (recognizing that God exists and Scouting should therefore have a religious component), the Scout Oath, and the Scout Law. Adult leaders are to be registered with the Boy Scouts of America after approval of the troop’s PRCA representative and troop committee chairman (the troop committee is the adult committee overseeing the troop’s activities).

All troop activities will conform to the standards established in the BSA’s Youth Protection Program and published in BSA’s Guide to Safe Scouting. This includes the presence of two registered adult leaders or one registered adult leader and a parent of a participant (zone of whom must be 21 years of age or older) at all meetings, trips, and outings. All participants, youth and adults alike, are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the principles set forth in the Scout Oath and Law.
